You might, if at all mechanically inclined, forst look for probably the most common cause - a missing clevis pin in the linkage rods because the cotter pin rusted away and fell out letting the clevis pin fall out. Usually (though may take a second person to be sure the tilted-up mower does not not fall on you) easy to replace - replacements (after you measure hole size and needed pin length) can be found at most hardware and big box stores in their racks of hardware hardware bins. Also at auto parts stores.
