Most states have a professional license verification section in the health section of their official website. It is very informative and tells about education, where they practice and in my state, TN, if they have been reprimanded, and all the details of any problems. You can usually read the text of the disciplinary hearing and the action taken. My state also has listed all other licenses that it issues such as building contractors, realtors, security guards, etc.
