how much should it cost to have a new sliding glass door installed?

That is a question that can't be answered without looking at the job. If the contractor supplied the door to fit an existing opening, the installation portion of the bill could be as low as $150-$200. If you picked out the door and the contractor needs to do some modifications so that the door will fit, possibly finds some deterioration to the framing or floor joists, you could be looking at thousands depending on the extent of the work. I agree with previous answer. If install is a Remove old & Reinstall new I charged up to $250. With a trip charge of $25 for picking up the new door at big box store (Lowe's,Home Depot etc) with your paid reciept. I included haulaway of old materials and no interior staining or painting in Omaha Ne. Cost for cutting a hole,installing a header, & framing out with materials was usually $600.
