how much to cut down a 100 foot pine tree

There was also a person a while back that said it cost them $800 to have a 100' emerald ash taken down - did not say if just felled or removed too.

Unless it is in a danger zone - right next to a house, close to power lines, etc - should probably cost about $500 to cut it down, assuming having to do 3-6 feet at a time from top down. If can free-fell in one piece with lots of open space around then probably only about $100-150. If pieces need to be lined down one by one because right next to a house, then more like $800-1000.

Then you have to decide what to do with it - will cost up to 100% or so more (progressively more with each option below), depending on whether you have them limb it and remove the limbs offsite; limb and buck (remove and chip limbs and cut the tree to about 10-20' lengths); limb and firewood (dispose of limbs, cut larger branches and truck to firewood length); limb, firewood and stack firewood; or dispose of all material totally offsite. Grinding stump probably about $100-150 more (as part of same job) to grind stump and root base down to about 3-4 inches below ground level.
