Question DetailsAsked on 6/12/2017

my exit hose on my pool pump is sucking water in

Both pool hoses are pulling water in instead of one pulling in and the other pushing the filtered water out. I have checked the connections and the pump and filter are connected properly.

Assuming there have been no plumbing changes, I would guess the filter automatic flush discharge system is operating or stuck, so it is pulling water from both sides. I can't imaging but this might be normal during the filter backflow cycle - but certainly after that cycle is done it should not be sucking from the discharge hose - if it is, I would guess the automatic flush system has a stuck solenoid or valve.

One other possibility I can think of - I guess if the filter (if you have canister rather than sand bed type) were put in upside down maybe that could cause an odd occurrence like that.
