prehung door installation gone wrong

I just installed a prehung door in my house, but when I close the door there is a big gap between the top half of the door and the door stop. What did I do wrong?

Hi, im roger hilliard of rh construction llc

When you install a prehung door, always nail the hinge side first, us a level to make sure it is plum and square (use level on side of frame and on face of frame. With the door closed check to make sure your gap is the same on all sides and top. Move the unhinged side of the door inward or outward to correct your gap problem. Once the gaps are the same, place shimes in the unhinged side (top middle bottom) to keep the frame from moving as you nail it. If this did not help, please email me at rhilliard@columbus.rr.com and i will respond with additional information.
