removal of wired security system

I haven't had my wired security system monitored for several years. I want to install Simplisafe and remove the existing wired security system

You would have to find out the details of the power - but if low voltage system (appears from their website to be 6 volt) you might be able to use the wiring from the old system to power the new components - even though the alarming itself is wireless, so I would not go tearing out the old components and dumping the wire down in the walls till you figure out if it can be used.

Depending on your expertise with wiring and electronics, and on if you can figure out the Simplisafe operating rules (I read through the manual for kicks and not only could not figure out how it decises what mode it is in, but has some nasty characteristics like if it loses primary power and the backup batteries die, when power is restored it goes to test mode for 20 minutes, then OFF - rather than back to the state it was originally in (presumably AWAY) - so if it loses power it does not rearm itself - not a very good security system.

If you google this search phrase - Simplisafe complaints - you can find a number of reviews on this system. From a quick scan confusing instructions, alarming being way too quiet, not being camera enabled, and backup batteries not lasting the 2 days they are supposed to after a power outage appeared to be the primary complaints I saw.

Alarms in the Search the List category would be the normal Search the List category for this type of installation.
