Varies a LOT depending on whether stock off-the-shelf box store railings will fit, and somewhat on type of material you are going into - cheaper in wood than concrete, most expensive is into plank-type stone or concrete steps (as opposed to into mass concrete steps). Can run as low as about $25-30/LF of railing at the low end (installed cost) using prebuilt box store standard railings, more commonly around $50-60/LF for very simple, plain railings - and more around $100/LF plus or minus for custom spacing or custom design with standard elements - can run up to $150-400/LF for custom design (detailed curves or latticing or such, done from scratch or needing new templates made to fabricate them).

Wrought Iron is an Angies List Search the Category list for this work - for simplistic off-the-shelf railings some Concrete and Masonry contractors who do stoop/outdoor stair work also sell and install them. Ditto to Handymen for installation on wood steps. [They can do it in concrete, but better to use professional wrought iron installer or concrete contractor to minimize risk of popout of the edge of the concrete - do the anchors wrong and it can make a mess of the concrete/birck/stonework.
