An attached almost always cheaper than detached, unless you have low roof on that side that would interfere. Typically about $30-50/SF for a typical taped but unfinished drywalled, bare concrete, unfinished walls with nominal outlets and minimal lighting - just the bare minimum of cheap porcelin fitures 2 or 3 places in garge. On up to $80-100/SF for a "showpiece" garage with in-ceiling lighting and work area spots, epoxy floor, in-garage heating (not just one ceiling fan unit), one or two heavy-duty outlets for compressor, welder, etc. Most tend to come in around the $50-70/SF range in a simple but adequate lighting and finish condition like typical new construction.

Also look at 2-story cost - commonly for about $50/SF more you can rough in an upstairs addition over the garage, if you are up to finishing it out yourself, because you are already paying for the ground floor garage and foundation plus the roof in the garage cost, so adding a second floor commonly is a reall bargain in gaining square footage, both for use and for counting in living space come resale time, as garages are not counted in real estate square footage in some parts of the country.
