Question DetailsAsked on 11/13/2015

who would be the appropriate contractor to engage to install a remote starter in an existing gas fireplace?

our fireplace was converted to gas several years ago. Now we would like to have a remote control started installed.
Would we use an electrician, a plumber or a fireplace/chimney contractor?

call the company that provides your gas and ask them for a recommendation.

Gas Fireplace vendor (AL Search the List category would be Gas Logs, I guess - no Gas Fireplace category), or the type contractor who installs gas fireplaces in your area - usually Heating and A/C but sometimes Plumbing would be the category, especially in areas where gas work has to be done by Gas Fitters, who in my experience more commonly work for plumbing rather than HVAC companies.

You may or may not need an electrician to run power to it if this is an unpowered fireplace - but there are battery-operated remote control valves, but they go through batteries pretty quickly.
