who would replace or repair a broken attic stairway?

For repair - you don't say what is wrong, but a Handymen would be the normal Search the List category for this - just be sure he does a proper repair or parts replacement, not a scab job which might not fit up in right or be weak.


If the hinges are the problem, you can get new ones from Keller for ladders not before the year 2000, or for the most common models, on Amazon and probably swap them out yourself.


Note that particular model, new, is just over $200 including shipping at Amazon and other sellers - so if for instance the wood is broken and a replacement section from Keller is not available or too expensive, might be cheapest (and least labor time) to just replace it in-place.
