Question DetailsAsked on 3/3/2012

Am moving in a week and need a GOOD washer/dryer combo - front load. Who likes which brand best - reliable/quiet/efficient??

Have compared w/d brands against consumer reports, amazon, jd powers, smartbuy guides and frankly, as many opinions there are means many good to great appliance sets! HELP! We would like to deal with a reputable, knowledgable firm that will sell us the best machines for our bucks....SO tired of SO many opinions and no clear cut winners!!
So Denver, which manufacturer of washers/dryers (front load please) does NOT need a visit from a repairman!?

For front load washers & matching dryers I would tell you either Whirlpool Duet or Samsung. However, if you don't want to see the repairman you need to follow some rules. First, and most important is:
DO NOT OVERLOAD YOUR MACHINE! I can't stress enough how important this is. I've seen 2 year old front load washers destroyed and not worth repair because of overloading. If you think that might be too many clothes you're putting in, IT IS! Be sure to empty everything out of the pockets before you put them in the washer. A quarter can get stuck in a pump and break it. Even though most pumps have a filter, don't risk it. Speaking of pumps, you should clean out your pump regularly to keep it working effeciently. On the Whirlpool Duet, it's fairly easy to clean out the pump. A clogged pump will cause your front load washer to smell bad. For your dryer, clean the lint screen before every load and keep your vent line clear or lint will build up and you could be faced with a dryer fire! I hope this information helps you with your decision.
