Anyone know a good tailor?

I am terrible at keeping receipts and remembering where I get clothes from (I buy a lot on-line) and instead of sending something back for a different size (having to shlep to post office also) when it just needs a little tailoring -- REAL tailoring (not just shortening hems, which I can and do do all the time) but the kind to take in a shaped blazer or dress including the lining. I don't mind paying heftily for a good tailor is I could find one!

I have to admit that I don't know whether Angie maintains the same categories for all locations or not. I'll answer from a central-Indiana perspective and let you ponder it from the great northeast.

We have a listing for Alterations/Sewing/Decorating.

I just did a quick review of that category and there are lots of companies listed but the focus of them is pretty varied - ranging from shops that alter clothing to sewing curtains to whatever. But the ones working on clothes are fairly easy to spot in the listings.

At the bottom of the page for listings within the category is a "Need Help?" section. There is a link to get one of Angie's Neighborhood Specialists to focus on the type of business you are trying to find.

Best of all, their goal is to respond to your request within one full business day. Guess they realize that when you're looking, you're primed and ready to go.

Give a look-see for your area. Is the Alterations/Sewing/Decorating category available? If not, link on over and let one of her folks give it a shot. I've never used the Neighborhood Specialists, but I'll bet that you'll be pleased if they work like the rest of her team.

Don't be a stranger. This place gets pretty quiet some days.

One quick P.S. to Old Grouch's analysis -- if you're trying to perform a search (on the Check the List page) but don't see a category with the name you're expecting, you can click the Synonym List link (directly below the Service Category drop-down menu). This offers a broad range of other names/types of work, and can hopefully point you in the right direction.
