Arthritis pain! Searching for a doctor who is up to date and well respected in this field. Jacksonville, FL.

I'm a 65 year old female. For at least five years, I've had some arthritis and inflammation in my right index finger joints. Unfortunately, I'm right handed. In the past few months, the symptoms have become worse. I have consistent pain, even when I'm not using that finger. Also, I'm starting to have pain in my other fingers, on both hands.

The big toe on my right foot is also bothering me. I had surgery for a bone spur early in 2001. Following the operation, the surgeon remarked, "the joint is very arthritic and may need to be replaced sometime in the future." I'm beginning to wonder if the future is now! At present, my toe is very painful after kneeling or squatting for under thirty seconds, and after walking for only about ten minutes. If I manage to walk for thirty minutes, the toe will hurt for the next two days.
