Need to know the best carpet to install in our home. Our 2 year old Shaw carpet is really showing wear.

I was going to say you can't easily go wrong with Shaw, Mannington, or Mohawk - but obviously you don't like Shaw now.

I recommend darker color (mid-brown or darker) and varigated color or texture, not one uniform color, to show dirt and traffic patterns less - and definitely nylon or nylon/rayon mix - though nylon can be hard on crawler's knees and elbows if you have rug rats or teen rats - makes for nasty rug burns. A continuous fiber as opposed to "staple" or bunch fiber construction will also wear a lot better.

If really showing wear, I wonder if maybe you got a wool or cotton blend, which look nice and are nice and warm but wear very quickly.
