Question DetailsAsked on 12/18/2019

Can I get a refund, and if so, how much? Please see additional background.

Had my 2005 Ford Explorer XLT towed to an auto repair shop because it made a loud grinding noise when turning the key. They called and said it needed a new starter, and it would cost me $540. I ok'd that. Later they called and said after installing the starter, they discovered a timing chain was broken, recommended replacing all timing chains, and would have to pull engine. That would cost me an additional $3800. That basically totals the car and I don't want the work done. I want them to remove the new starter. How much should I end up owing them?
