Can very hot weather cause seamless aluminum gutters to warp?

I Live in a town-home development in Olathe, KS. Due to hail damage, all gutters were replaced less than a year ago. This summer, during the very very hot months, mine and several neighbors gutters warped severely. The warps are in the exact same very long seamless runs on the West side of the affected homes.

SHort answer is Yes. Long answer is all matter is subject to expansion and contraction due to heat and cold, gutters are no different. If gutters are installed in the cold, they have retracted, the metal very dense. This can't really be seen with the human eye, but is real. Even if not a very cold day, exceedingly long runs of gutter are also very prone to warping from heat.

We call this oil canning. If you have a very long run of gutter, and the gutter expands length wise, it has no where to go because of the fasteners thus it warps the face of the gutter. For this reason, we at Reliable American roofing have chosen not to install gutters longer than 80' with out expansion joint. We also try hard not to install long lengths of gutters in very cold weather.

Another possible factor is the hanging bracket. If gutter is hung with screw type hanger like hangtite, the clip that wraps around the gutter allows the gutter to expand and contract without pulling lose. If they contractor hung your (and your neighbors) with spike and ferral or did not allow the hidden hanges (like hangtite) to float freely you can also get a paint canning effect.
