Can't post question on knob and tube wiring. Getting content warning?

Here's my question. Is it too long? Our 4 bedroom house is more than 100 years old. We purchased it in 1984 and it passed all inspections for a VA loan. Except for our living room and kitchen, we have only one outlet in each room. We've never had any electrical problems (despite 4 girls with one bath) but we use gas for our major appliances. Can we add outlets safely or do we need to replace all the wiring?
