Can a tailor in Houston adjest a bed skirt to allow for a bar at the foot of the boxspring?

I have a tempurpedic ergo bed and no fine linen store knows how to adjust a bed skirt. I'm hoping a good tailor may be able to do the work.

I am a bit unsure what you are needing - would not your bed skirt just tuck inside the bar, or drape over it ?

A tailor might be able to do it it you mark the exact location you want a slit put in the skirt, being sure to provide the exact outside dimension of the bar that the slit has to slip over. Or provide the minimum additional length it needs if you mean you want it lengthened so it will cover that ugly bar too.

I can't believe that for a $3-5,000 mattress (which I can't believe anyway) that they would use a hospital-bed type metal restrainer bar rather than a slip-in wood strip across the bottom of the bed to restrain the mattress - or just ties to the frame.

My thought is an Upholstery shop is probably better suited to this type of work, particularly since the skirt is probably pretty heavy fabric for a tailor's sewing machine to handle.

Other categories that might do it include Furniture - Refinishing and Repair, and Alterations/Sewing/Decorating.
