Cost of installing sliding glass door in solid wall

Taking existing standard door and making it into an 8ft sliding glass door.

Below are a few links to prior similar questions with answers - pay attention to which are talking asame-size replacement doors, and which a new header (which is very similar to your case, meaning widening existing opening and putting new header over it. Bear in mind that is not a terrible job IF door will be at least 2-3 feet from corner of house and at least 2 feet from any adjacent window or door opening, AND not overlie another door or window or significant size on the floor below.m Not that those factors prevent it - just mean more framing issues so cost goes up, sometimes as much as 50-100% in extreme cases. Worst case is putting in a wide door or window above another wide window, especially over a glass curtain wall.
