Cure for CKD IN DOGS

1 Answer

Talk to your vet - but basically early CKD can be mitigated with diet and treatment and may or may not progress quickly or slowly, but once it gets to the point where it would be leading to dialysis in a human sthe treatment for a dog is not reasonable, and the quality of life would be terrible - lying tied down connected to tubes for hours on end.

Our dog reached that point a few years ago due to drug secondary effects treating another condition (fortunately quickly progressing from onset to untreatable in only a couple of weeks) - but if the vet says your pet's time has come and treatment is not viable, believe them and say goodbye - you do NOT want to push it to the point where your pet is in chronic pain or knocked out most of the time from pain killers or not being able to go for walks and having no quality of life.
