Question DetailsAsked on 5/14/2014

Do I rate the company I paid for materials and installation or the sub-contractor they hired to do the work?

The company I paid for materials and installation did a poor job with responsiveness and professionalism, but the sub-contractor they hired to actually do the installation was very responsive and professional. So it's not easy to answer the questions in order to rate a business when the business I paid didn't do the actual installation. If I rate the company I paid as POOR in responsiveness and professionalism then will this reflect badly on the sub-contractor who actually did a GOOD job in responsiveness and professionalism? Also, regarding the question "Were services performed by the provider?"... my answer could be yes and no. They didn't do the actual installation, but they did hire the subcontractor. So would I answer that question yes or no?

GOOD QUESTION!

Honestly, if it were me I would actually post 2 reviews. One for each contractor, with the details. One good one for the subcontractor - but still be clear about the circumstances. And a fair/average one for the GC - along with the story - AND the contact info of the contractor who actually DID the work.

This way - people looking at the GC again may find out they can instead go straight to the sub, and the GC MIGHT learning "be responsive or the Web will know".

You would be doing BOTH of them a favor, and being fair all around.

I've only had this happen to me one time, though in my case, both contractors were good and responsive. And they both got good reviews.
