Do I have to sign a release of claims form from my contractors insurance?

My Contractor flooded my home during an upstairs bathroom remodel (never turned the water off). Their insurance company has finally offered me a settlement and asked me to sign a release of all claims- that I release them and the contractor from any future liability. I'm hesitant- considering that I don't know a lot about construction....what if a problem related to this accident pops up in six months time? who knows... will they still be liable for future related problems if I sign ? will they hold up payment if I don't want to sign?
