During this heavy rains our carpets in the first floor of the home got wet,

We had a strange issue in our home, During this heavy rains our carpets in the first floor of the home got wet,
interestingly the Walls are not wet. We are trying to figure out the issue of the leak.
Some suggested the Stucco need to be fixed and few suggested to remove the inner Sheetrock.
Can some one share any similar Experiences

Below are links to some similar questions with answers which might help - I would start with looking at roof runoff or surface drainage getting up against the house as the most likely cause - which proper gutters and downspouts leading to drain away from the house or putting in sloping, berms, or drainage swales can almost always fix. More links to questions about wet floor/basement (whatever your lowest floor is) can be found in the Home > Basement Waterproofing link in Browse Projects, at lower left. (Many of the causes and fixes related to basemetns also apply to slabs-on-grade as well, especially the diagnosis and getting/keeping the water away from the edge of the house.
