Except for a chandelier that comes in hundreds of pieces and has to have each little individually wrapped piece of crystal strung or hung on it individually, like some fancy European ones do, I have never seen a fixture that took more than about 5 minutes to assemble - usually about 1-2 minutes if any, and usually just attaching a few heads to a bar or slipping a few pieces of glass into the frame.

Installation, assuming you are talking about mounting on an existing box capable of handling the load, takes about 2-10 minutes, so you are almost always talking minimum service call of around $100 plus or minus $50.

If requires new switch and box where there is not one now, or a heavier duty box to carry a heavy chandelier or ceiling fan, you can find a number of questions relating to regular fixtures and ceiling fans needing new installation, in the Home > Electrical link in Browse Projects, at lower left this page.
