I'm not sure if this question falls within your topics, but do you know whether a garden maintenance person who comes weekly is required to be licensed by CA?

Dear Yeh: My name is Paul Pogue, San Jose editor for Angie’s List Magazine. To the best of my knowledge, garden maintenance workers are not required to be licensed in California. Generally, anyone performing construction work in excess of $500 per job in labor and materials must be licensed. Landscaping contractors must also be licensed, and their full description is here: However, the work you’re describing does not sound like it would require a license. If you have further questions, I suggest you contact the Contractors State Licensing Board at or 800-321-CSLB.
