Question DetailsAsked on 11/7/2014

Greenspeed heat pump or American Standard Platinum ZV furnace and ZM ac?

We are replacing our 90% AFUE propane furnace and ac unit in Massachusetts. House is 3,000 sf and we use propane for heat, hot water, cooking, dryer, and two gas fireplaces. Salesperson says we will see big savings in propane costs with the heat pump, but I am not convinced. I think our electricity costs will go up quite a bit and that any repairs or issues will be very expensive due to the complexity of the system. Plus, I am not sure how to determine how much of our annual propane cost (around $3,000 per year) is heat versus everything else.

I would like to save on energy costs over the life of the system, but reliability is the most important factor for me. I feel like I am getting the hard sell on the heat pump and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
