Has this new Big Deal 30-day refund policy turned into a scam on members?

I bought a Big Deal in mid Aug. The Big Deal contractor kept pushing a 2nd contact to schedule the work until after 30 days. I had no idea that my credit card would be charged after 30 days, even though no work was performed and no work was even scheduled.

After I realized this contractor was unsatisfactory, I did not want to hire him. But I was told after 30 days I was stuck with him. Or Angie would help me find a similar deal or I could use the Big Deal money for something else --even though I don't want other services.

I spent 2-3 weeks with an Angies Customer Service Rep trying to find a similar deal (there are none). I am told Angies List will keep my money for a year, and then I will need to pay that original unsatisfactory contractor the full price for his services. This sounds like a scam and Angies List is enabling it.

A credit card should not be charged for services not performed. This 30-day refund policy is wrong and I hope no other member gets scammed by it
