Have you had Leaf Filter brand if gutter guards installed? Is it worth the investment?

I was a LeafFilter dealer from 2005 tell last month. I was also a Gutter Topper dealer from 2004 tell 2008 when I switched to MasterShield. I had Leaffilter on my own home for 8 years so I feel qualified to rate it. Not to mention I installed hundreds of jobs on homes in NE & Iowa.

Why am I no longer a dealer? LeafFilter North of Ohio has killed off all retail dealers and sells only direct.

Why did I initially start selling LF? I am convinced that the technology behind LF (developed by Alex Higgenbotham) is far superior to any other design. That being said, LF is a dated design, even tho Consumer Reports in its Oct 2010 issue said LF was significantly superior to #2 commercially installed gutter cover (Gutter Topper) it failed to include Alex's latest and greatest gutter design-MasterShield. Both rely on a 50 micron stainless steel filter but as the Ask The Builder"s host Tim Carter discovered a flat filter (LF ) creates a shelf that debris builds up on and in his opinion a Homeowner would be required to periodically clean off the debris.(FYI this was my experience as well).

Tim Carter also called MasterShield the "holy grail" of gutter protection and stated he was done trying and trying to defeat constant gutter cleaning,, A solution has been found.

Alex appeared at Consumer Reports annual meeting and protested that testing had excluded his latest an greatest, but CS said MasterShield was too new and had too little internet penetration to be rated.

The warranties also tell the tale,

Leaf Guard, Gutter Topper, Gutter Helmut- the selling dealer will clean your gutter , tell

the dealer GOES OUT of BUSINESS. I have seen 5 in my market of this elite group go bye bye.

LeafFilter has a non transferable FACTORY warranty that if your gutter needs cleaning they will refund the material purchase price.

MasterShield has a transferable LIFE of the GUTTER warranty that says the FACTORY will refund the material purchase price & all dealers are required to refund any moneys they have received as well. One condition , they have the option to repair for free of charge. So my suggestion is call MasterShield and ask if they have a dealer in your area

If they do not buy LeafFilter, It is head and shoulders above the rest

If you click on the Home > Gutters link right under your question, you can also find other opinions on different brands of gutters, and on the issue of gutters versus no gutters, and typical installation costs.
