Hot water heater running constantly and water is hot

My hot water heating has been running 48 hours and my water is actually hotter than usual. What’s wrong

Depending on the age of the water heater it could be a bad thermostat that is not registering the correct water temperature. It could be that the heater has a leak and or the temperature and pressure valve is leaking outside causing fresh water to continue to fill the unit and the unit is just trying to keep up with the new added cold water. Contact a licensed plumber to check and resolve.
