How much (and how) do I ask for compensation for a 3x botched installation that took over a year to be completed?

Ordered a new front door/side light through a big box hardware retailer last spring. The order was mysteriously delayed, reordered later and when it arrived was heavily damaged. I got the company's home office involved who's handled my case since. After all the damages were assessed it was decided best they reorder the entire thing which showed up months later damaged (during shipping we assume) in essentially the same way! Now it's a year since my first ordering and the 3rd order is about to arrive. If it is in good condition and is installed I'll finally have what I ordered-but only after tons of delays and follow-up. I'm not the type to bellyache about being wronged (I've done my time in retail back in the day-I understand things happen). Everyone I know says I should be compensated. Part of me agrees to a point-I've emailed, phoned, submitted pictures/notes, and made numerous visits to the local store to follow up on this issue. Any advice-$ amount or otherwise to ask for?
