Hiring a roofer/general contractor. How do I check if they are registered to do business in Texas? How do I see if they have proper licenses?

You can search contractor licenses on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website: http://www.tdlr.texas.gov/


Keep in mind, not all trades require licenses in all states. Also, your county, city or town may have additional licensing requirements for businesses operating in that jurisdiction, which you can check by calling their office and asking about business registration and permiting requirements.
