Question DetailsAsked on 3/30/2012

How do I find a good kitchen and bath designer/contractor in Houston, TX? I can find designers and contractors, but I want a one stop shop.

I've been talking to folks and looking on the web and checking Angies list but I haven't found what I'm looking for. I would think it would be easy to come up with three kitchen, bath, space-planning experts who also oversee the complete design and construction of a project. I have a good idea of what materials I want, but I need expert advice on tearing down a wall, moving the laundry, planning the cabinetry design to best fit my needs and some clever ideas on how to make my space special - that little extra wow element that tv designers bring to the show. I want Candace Olsen, but in Houston! :)

most of the designers and contractors i have met through friends of web searches are not mentioned in Angies list. The ones I've seen and contacted haven't called me back or, even though the reviews are good, don't appear to be the quality I'm looking for.

Before making any suggestions, I have a question.

Why do you suppose the designer/contractors you've called have not returned your calls?

Have you had a chance to explain what you want?

Have any of them ever heard of Candace Olsen [sic]?

Is your budget large enough to afford everything you want? The fact that you're a "Guest" on Angie's List indicates to me that you're too cheap to pay for your own subscription. That would be MY first clue. If I were a designer/contractor, I could probably spot you as a very demanding frugalista, within a couple of minutes if not right off the bat.

Bbbzzzzzzzzzzzt. NOT!
