Question DetailsAsked on 5/4/2012

How do I fix my dishwasher? I put reg dishwash soap in it. It backed up and suds flowed out. Took out suds and water.

I put some vegetable oil in the dishwasher after cleaning it up to kill the suds. Plan to take all dishes out and wash by hand, then run using normal dishwashing liquid. Will that fix it? It's a Bosch unit. Read this solution online.

Before you begin, be sure you filter trap is clear.

1. Put 2 cups of white vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit for 5 minutes.

2. Run the Rinse Only cycle.

3. Using just 1 cup of white vinegar, run the Quick Clean / Air Dry cycle and hopefully, you will be suds free now.

4. After hand washing, rinse your dishes in a solution of 4 quarts water with 1/4 cup vinegar to get release any oil or grease that might be on them. Now, use only "DISHWASHER" detergent in you Bosch unit. My installer strongly suggests not to use the one with the red ball in it.
