Question DetailsAsked on 3/3/2016

How do I remove a small, dime sized blood stain from my mattress?

My arm bled a small bit on the top of my mattress. We have a warranty problem with the mattress, and the company (Serta) will not honor the warranty until the blood stain is gone. Please help with any suggestion!

A trick I learned from a medic for cleaning up gear and seat covers after a soldier got wounded in the military. Also disinfects it and prevents transmission of any bloodborne diseases.

First, dampen with COLD water on paper towel, then dab - NOT WIPE - with dry paper towel. Alternate back and forth till no more comes up. If that did not take it out, use enzyme spot removed like Shout on a rag - dabbing again. Then for any residual stain after the blood is out, dab with a rag dipped in hydrogen peroxide - will bleach it right out to nothing. Just do not RUB at any point in the progress - will spread it around and give you a bigger job.
