How do I report dangerous car problem not handled by dealer?

My 2010 Ford Fusion SEL will suddenly slow to a crawl. This has happened several times in heavy traffic. I will turn off engine and when restarting car is fine for a few more days. Dealer technician states he is unable to identify problem and/or solve problem. I'm an 81 year old man at my wits end. Help!

In my experience, it is not unusual to have a problem that doesn't show up at the mechanic's. Dealers have a database so that when problems (like yours) arise and someone finds the answer, they post it for all the other dealers to see. When someone finds the answer to your problem, they will solve it for everyone. Until then I recommend not driving in heavy traffic. And keep checking with your mechanic.

Don't know if you ever got your problem solved, but I just noticed this post:

1) here is link to report unsafe car problems and defects to the government -

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

2) You can look up your year, make and model on www.kbb.com or www.emunds.comto see if there have been any recalls on that issue which you might not have been notified on.
