Question DetailsAsked on 4/7/2020

How can I re-stabilize a wobbly porch railing post? Just one post, right in the middle of the railing? (i.e. T=I=T)

I kicked the front porch railing to kill a spider and now the middle post stabilizing the railing is wobbly and unstable. I can push the post forward towards the yard and the rail buckles with it. The post is wooden and in between the two large pillars that hold up the roof of the front porch. Nothing is "broken" or splintered or cracked. The rails themselves are embedded in each post, 7 round metal rods about the width of the grip of a baseball bat. How can I most efficiently re-stabilize this middle post without dismantling the whole deck or spending a fortune? The situation looks about like this: T=I=T where the "I" between the "="s (railings) is the post that I've kicked into instability and the "T"s are the big posts holding up the roof of the porch. Its probably 4 feet tall. We didn't build the deck so I'm unsure of how deep the pole goes.
