Question DetailsAsked on 1/23/2016

How can I verify that the discounts from deals are off the regular price charged, not a worked up price?

For example, if vendor quotes $500 to customers without Angie discounts and I purchase a coupon for $100 off, how do I know that the quote for Angie coupon will not be $600 so I end up paying $500 anyway.

No way to verify that short of hacking the vendor's business records.

You don't, and there have been a lot of complaints about that appearing to happen - that and vendors say that the coupon or Deal does not apply for some reason and wanting to charge far, far more for what the customer thinks should be included in the offer.

If politicians (yeah, I know - in my dreams) had any honesty, there would be a federal law that all coupons and discounts and such $ off deals only have to be presented at payment time to be counted - so vendors would not know in advance that a person was taking advantage of an offered discount and count not jack up the price in that way.

Of course, AL could impose such a restriction on the use of Deals or Coupons, but Deals would have to be restructure more like a coupon or $-off voucher for that to work, because as it is now AL contacts the vendor that the buyer has bought the coupon before the customer ever talks to the vendor.
