Assuming you mean the A/C system only and already have suitable ducts - generally around $2000 bare minimum for cheapest brand, more like $3-4,000 installed cost for normal system, and on up with pricier brands or extreme high efficiency (high SEER rating). Comparable capacity heat pumps almost always quite a bit higher than respective A/C units.

If you do not have ducting, then a mini split unit can reduce costs for that (google for what that is) because they are only running small diameter refrigerant lines to each wall unit, not ducting. Otherwise, for new ducting can run about $1000 for small single-story with exposed basement ceiling or crawlspace joists on up depending on if using flex plastic (poor long-term choice in my opinion) or galvanized steel, and on size of house and number of floors. Commonly VERY ROUGHLY $3000-4000 ballkpark (but highly variable) for new rigid steel for normal sized (about 2000SF) two-story house after all ducting and drywall repairs and painting are done - NOT including the cost of the A/C unit itself.
