Question DetailsAsked on 8/30/2013

How much would it cost to assemble a 6 foot entertainment center that has shelving and drawers?

I would like it to be assembled somewhere else and then delivered back to my home fully assembled.

You could check Angie's List for a Handyman, or a Moving and Storage company for a move-in crew.

I presume this is a kit type unit - designed to be assembled by the owner, or a unit designed to be taken apart for moving and you have all the original hardware.

Realize you way is going to COST you - probably at least $200-400 more than the maybe $60-120 it would normally cost you. They will probably have to assemble it on a reinforced plywood base to keep it from breaking when being moved, move it on a 6 foot long movers dolly. I hope you have a large elevator if in an apartment and not going up any stairs if in a house or apartment, and don't have any corners a 6 foot item can't go around, and not too high to go through doors, etc, etc

This is why these things are shipped unassembled and assembled with a few feet of where they are being installed. I fail to understand why you don't want it assembled where it will stand - this is normally less than a 1 hour job to assemble and slide into place, and you can specify the contractor is to bring clean tarp or cardboard to protect flooring, as necessary.
