Question DetailsAsked on 10/11/2012

How much does it cost to install a stove hood/vent?

We are interested in purchasing a home, but it has a stove top with a vent in the stove itself, and we are interested in replacing the stove with a regular stove top, and installing a hood and vent above it. There is currently only a ceiling and roof, and absolutely no duct or vent of any sort above the stove.

HIring an Angie's List handyman an expecting to pay $200 plus $250 dollars in materials (including new stove vent). You may luck out and be able to recycle old vent. Am assuming no room above kitchen. Insist on channeling the exhaust vent hose from the interior to avenue that allows the heated and moist air to not be trapped in the attic. Do not run drier? vent line into a turbine as it will create a negative pressure event and pull conditioned air from your new home. Ideally a 505 vent ( is a flat square approx 1ft ) in roof near the end of the exhaust vent or right up to a continious ridge vent.
