How much should it cost to have a large (over 60 ft tall) oak tree removed from my yard?

Here is a response I gave to a similar question some time ago -

Assuming you mean an intact oak, probably over 4 feet in diameter at base and main branches 2-3 feet in diameter, then depending on whether there is room to fell it intact (on the low end) or needs to be taken down small piece by piece becuase of power line or house proximity (highest end), could run from $200 to $1500 range to fell it, plus cost to buck, cut to firewood, totally dispose of, or whatever you want. Therefore, total costcould range from $200 range for simple felling in one piece, to close to $2000 if in urban area where working room is non-existent so have to use a crane, and removing all material from site and grinding stump below ground level.
