How much should it cost per lb to add refrigerant to our 18 year old a/c unit?

The unit is on the ground and is about 18-19 years old.

35 t0 70 dollars per pound of regrigerant R22, plus service charges and labor, here in Florida, maybe more. Not a good investment as there is almost certaily a leak ,and in most cases it is not worth the cost of repair.


A new system will use much less energy,lower bills, then anything 19 years old.Theres no interest financing and even Rent to Own, here in Florida, if you need financing.
