Question DetailsAsked on 9/16/2013

How much does it usually cost to reface kitchen cabinets? Is it cheaper to purchase new cabinets.

It is a small kitchen that has a total mix of 21 cabinets and draws. The kitchen cabinets are in good shape and they currently have white wash finish but would like to change the stain to cherry.

Refacing generally about $100-200/LF versus $300-500/LF for new normal-grade cabinets, or about $500-2000/LF for custom Tier 1 (top grade) cabinets. BTW - linear footage is per face width foot of cabinet - measured separately for upper and lower tiers.

You should consult with a cabinet fabrication and installation company - depending on how your cabinets are built, it may be they can be stripped and sanded and refinished cheaper than refaced even.
