How much does it cost to repair a shower diverter?

I am in need of a shower diverter repair - it is a separate diverter handle, not one in the spout. I already ordered the parts off amazon, I just need someone to fix the diverter.

This one is wide open - depends on tub model and some you have to get at it from the outsideofthe tub (through adjacent wall or from underlying ceiling), some you can replace from the tub side like drain plug. So, could be from minimum trip charge of about $75-150 (more in a few very high priced urban areas), to $300 range - and that does not include repair of drywall and repainting if he had to punch through a wall behind the tub to get at it.

If he does need to open up a wall, ask it he can put a maintenance cover plate over it - cost about $25-50, allows future access for repairs, and a lot cheaper than drywall repair and painting by a pro. You can also buy them in various sizes cheaper at Amazon and home improvement box stores and at electrical and plumbing supply stores and some lumber yards.
