How much does it normally cost to upgrade from 100 to 200 amp service

Click on the Home > Electrical link right below your question, and you will find a number of responses to this question, including factors affecting cost, cases where an upgrade might mandate code upgrades of wiring as well, conversion from Knob and Tube or asbestos or cloth-insulated wiring, aluminum house wiring issues, etc.

Read through the ones applicable to your case in the last yer or so and you should get a good idea of what it should cost in your case - of course, get 3 bids so you have a better idea that relates directly to your specific conditions.

theres a lot to consider,is your service overhead or underground? what is the age of the 100 amp service? are all the breakers outside?or is there a subpanel inside ,typical of areas that receive snow in the winter? 2 thousand to 25 hundred would be a fair price.
