How do i loosen teflon tape so i can unscrew a pipe fitting and fix my water pump?

Im trying to prime my water pump but it has an angled pipe fitting over top of the prime valve connected to my tank inside another pipe trails outside connected to my water well. I managed to unscrew the pipe from the top with a lot of finangling but its an angled fitting with teflon tape on the other end. im trying to get the other end unscrewed but the tape is making it difficult to undo plu the one who installed it didnt quite put the fitting on straight so its slightly off track on the threads.
