How much should redo bathroom tub drain cost?

There was a leak from our bathroom tub drain and the plumber who came out gave us a quote for ~$750. The drain leaked a couple of years ago and the attempt from another plumber at the time didn’t solve the problem (he cut out the leaking part and tried to "patch" it instead of redo completely). I’m wondering if the $750 quote is reasonable to redo the drain?

Unless access is pretty difficult, this sounds high. If accessible from under the tub (through underlying ceiling) then I would expect more like $250-300 labor and $50-100 parts. If in a concrete slab floor, then this sounds in the ballpark to me, including repair of the concrete.

In either case, cost would NOT include flooring or drywall contractor to repair the opening made by the plumber, nor repainting.
