How do you refresh a wood floor that has a ton of scratches?

I have an old home with wood floors, but unfortunately they have a ton of scratches. I don't know a lot about floors, so I'm wondering if I can purchase some type of stain or finish that will basically make my floors look new again? What should I do?

There may be stains and finishes that will work for a while, but they aren't going to make the floor look "new again." They could just add another layer of Whatever, that will also show scratches. If the flooring is original to the house, the best thing to do is to have it sanded and refinished. Do not try to do this yourself. Sanding machines are big and heavy and hard to control. You could end up making permanent divets in the flooring. Find a respected professional in your area @ and talk about options. It will be worth it in the long run, and your floors will shine for years to come!
