Simple way - use Borax as instructed on the box. I mean pure Borax powder (found with opowdered laundry detergents in your grocery store), NOT Boraxo soap. It will eliminate the smell pronto in a normal wash, and can be used in a wash load with all but the finest silks and satins and such, which normally are not run through a washer anyway.

Also works well to eliminate smell in garbage disposal and dishwasher and floor drains - use as instructed on box.
